Meet the Evans family. How cool are they?
We have been friends with these guys for a few years now, having lived next door to each other a while back.
Knowing the people you are going to photograph before a shoot is really a huge advantage for me, as a photographer. While it sometimes takes a few minutes to break the ice, and get really natural, happy and free photos, here it was instant. My aim in all the shoots I do is to get a real feeling for the love, joy and connection that exists in every family. It’s amazing how every photoshoot is so different, and yet, in all, love shines through. I battle to distill my photos down and always land up giving so many more images that I initially think I will. But all these moments are special and important. So closed eyes, sticking out tongues, crazy faces and sometimes even tears, often all make it into my final cut.
This shoot took place on a cloudy day in the city of Cape Town and in a coffee shop where the family like to “hang”. I feel it truly represents who they are.
