I love being asked to shoot styled portfolio photos for models. It gives me a reason to get creative, and to try and think of new ideas, that are fresh and not too serious. It also is an opportunity to try out some different styles of editing, and go a little bolder on the post-production, which is fun. Lastly, styled shoots are a great reason to call in a fellow photographer friend, or two, and photograph together. On this shoot, I worked with Lindy Kriek and Maggie from MagPie Photography – what a team. The beautiful make-up was courtesy Nadia Calitz.
For this shoot, we put together a whimsical outfit of tulle and lace, and drove out to the canola fields outside Wellington, with our beautiful, extroverted and adventurous model, Tove. She happily stripped off in a field full of bees, and tread through cow pastures to get the kind of photos you see here. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as we did conceptualizing and taking them.
